Category Nursing Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Description Summary/Objective: Under the direction of a RN/LPN, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides nursing assistance to the SCNs of the Nazareth campus performing the following duties. Essential Functions: Assist SCNs with daily living activities such as personal care, laundry, etc. Serve SCNs in a manner conductive to their safety and wellbeing. Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates as directed and report significant findings or changes to the licensed nurse. Provide walking assistance indoors and outdoors as needed. Assist with maintenance of hydration and nutrition needs of the SCNs. Follow established protocol for universal precautions and infection control. Responding to resident emergencies. Work with other staff to promote a friendly working environment. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records. Visit with SCNs as directed to provide comfort and safety. Inform verbally and/or submits in writing any significant observation or change in a resident for the licensed nurse to evaluate. Other duties may be assigned. Position Certified Nursing Assistant Position Requirements Qualification Requirements: To perform this job, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Competencies: Ethical Conduct Confidentiality Flexible & Dependable Honest & Compassionate Independent Worker Excellent Communication Skills Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Nursing assistant training and current registration in Kentucky Nurse Aide registry. Licenses/Certificates: Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant and have CPR certification. Physical Demands The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and/or stand; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; push, pull, bend, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as established in company policies and protocols. This may include gloves, face masks or respirators, face shields, goggles, gowns and potentially other protective equipment. Fit Testing Requirement: Employees who are in contact with a Sister with suspected or confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection should use a NIOSH-approved particulate respirator with N95 filters or higher, gown, gloves, and eye protection (i.e., goggles or a face shield that covers the front and sides of the face). Employees who are required to utilize an N95 respirator will receive a medical evaluation for respirator use, fit testing, and training. Work Environment: This job operates in a non-skilled environment. The noise level is usually quiet. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 40 hours weekly with rotating weekends and holidays 6:30am – 2:00 pm. Must be willing to work on all shifts if needed and may be requested to work beyond normal shift in case of emergency. Weekends and holidays are required. Travel: Travel is not required.
