Engineer I

Job Description At Planning, Design and Construction, we are passionate about shaping the University of Missouri (MU) Columbia campus’ future by creating innovative, high-quality spaces that inspire and support the university's mission. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Design Services, design electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for university renovation projects on the MU Columbia campus and other associated university sites. Key Responsibilities Meet with representatives of University departments to review drawings, cost estimates, plan modifications, and construction progress. Perform drafting of engineering drawings relating to building mechanical and/or electrical systems from sketches and oral instructions. Measure existing facility and perform field observation of existing conditions to verify proposed designs consider existing field conditions. Assist with writing design specifications, preparing project cost estimates, and/or reviewing project bids to evaluate adherence to project specifications. Assist engineer in layout of complex mechanical and electrical systems. Assist engineer in the review of contractor shop drawings and submittals. Obtain measurement and test data, perform preliminary engineering calculations. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Shift 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Engineering Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university. Must possess a valid driver’s license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri. Anticipated Hiring Range Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000 annually Grade: GGS-10 University Title: Engineer I Benefits This position is eligible for University benefits.
