Lead Barista

: The Lead Barista is responsible for managing the coffee shop operations. This role involves not only preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages but also overseeing a team of baristas, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Part-time Barista(s) Student Workers Minimum Education/Experience High School Diploma/GED Minimum year work experience as a barista or in a similar role, with a demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team. ServeSafe certification Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals. Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and beverage preparation methods. Familiarity with operating cash registers or POS systems and handling cash transactions. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards. Familiarity with inventory management software or systems. Physical Demands/Working Conditions 1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 25 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. 2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: This position requires the person to frequently move about the OCCC coffee shop. This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position. This position requires the person to frequently repeat the same movements. This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. 3. VISUAL ACUITY: This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. 4. WORKING CONDITIONS This position performs the essential functions in an indoor coffee shop. Baristas must strictly comply with HACCP systems and complete associated paperwork properly for due diligence. Preferred Qualifications Barista certification or training from a recognized institution. Experience working in a café or coffee shop environment within a college or educational institution. Required Training Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution. Work Hours Monday through Thursday 10am - 4pm with availability to alter schedule as needed.
