Apprentice Production Welder

This position is full-time and works 4 x 10-hour shifts (Mon Thur) approximately 40 hours per week with occasional overtime on weekdays and/or weekends at Clients manufacturing facility located in Nicholasville, KY. Apprentice Production Welder reports to the Area Leader and General Manager. The role will be responsible for robotic welder programming, setup, production, troubleshooting, and verifying that parts conform to drawings, processes, and procedures. MIG welding and Robotic welding are used for various production jobs so experience with either is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operates the welder and robotic welder, drill-press, sander, buffer, bench grinder and various hand tools
• Reads blueprints, sketches, and follows verbal and written instructions
• Assists in ordering, receiving, and storing material and supplies with the use of an electric forklift.
• Repairs and modifies equipment with instructions from supervisor.
• Completion of work orders including documentation identifying time and material spent on project
• Keeps workplace clean and organized, sweeping floors, cleaning equipment and machines, taking out shop garbage and recycling on a regular schedule
• Maintain compliance to all safety, regulatory, and company policies and procedures (OSHA/ITAR/AS9100), informing management of potential risks immediately.
• Support with all other production activities as needed for the business

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certified welder
• Work experience with shop math proficiency, computer literacy, and strong mechanical aptitude is appreciated; basic math skills required.
• Must be able to lift and carry tools and material weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Forklift operation experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of MIG welding and Robotic welding, ITAR, and/or AS9100
• Knowledge of CNC machining is a plus
• LEAN/TPM manufacturing experience
• Experience working with startups or scale up of small businesses
