Interim Director of NursingThe Interim Director of Nursing will verify the provision of quality care that promotes the highest practicable physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident as determined by resident assessments and individual plans of care.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Responsible for interdisciplinary involvement in the development of plans of care to meet each resident's needsOversee/direct/coordinate nursing staff to provide proper resident care consistent with standard nursing practicesKeep current with the changes in all regulations related to resident careCommunicate with attending physician and medical director regarding resident care issues as neededAssure provision of appropriate medication, treatments and nursing services according to care plans and physician's instructionsAssure compliance with state/federal regulations and company standardsPerform direct care/procedures when needed; such may include procedures for which the staff is not qualified or licensed to performDevelop and verify implementation of POCsAttend QAPI meetingsReview any/all regulatory reports (2567, Quality Monitoring reports, Quality Indicators, etc.)Review resident clinical recordsReview facility reports (facility QA reports and Simple CFS reports, etc.)Review consultant reports and provide feedback on any POCCommunicate and coordinate with physicians, discharge planners or appropriate facility representatives from health care facilities regarding resident admissions, transfers and discharges as neededCommunicate and supervise nursing personnel with respect to professional conduct and counsel employees about job performance as neededProvide training to the pertinent facility staffUse diplomacy but firmness in settling any disputes, complaints, etc. concerning nursing personnel or residents or families in conjunction with the administratorQualificationsBachelor's degree preferredLicensing RequirementsRegistered Nurse (RN) licensure requiredExperience RequirementsExperience as a DON in a skilled nursing facilityCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust hold current and active Registered Nurse license or registration in state employedCompletion of orientation required by company policy.Health screening and TB test (if required) within two weeks of employment.Mandatory drug test within 90 days of hire.Must be free of criminal activity proven by a criminal background check.Become familiar with and comply to all local, state, and federal regulations relating to the job.Show within three (3) days of hire satisfactory evidence of identity and eligibility for employment.Physical DemandsFrequently move about the facility.Must be able to rapidly assist in the evacuation of all residents from the building in case of emergency.Work EnvironmentMay be asked to work beyond normal working hours and must have flexibility and willingness to work holidays, etc.Must work in an office and other areas of the facility as needed.Is subject to illness, diseases, and other health conditions present in the facility.Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
