Surgical Technology Laboratory Assistant

Southwest University is seeking a dependable and organized Surgical Technology Laboratory Assistant to support our Surgical Technology Program. This position assists faculty with daily lab operations and helps maintain a clean, safe, and prepared learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the lab for classes, skills practice, and simulations.
• Organize and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Monitor inventory and assist with ordering and restocking supplies.
• Assist with lab setup, cleanup, and room turnover.
• Support students with proper use of lab equipment under faculty direction.
• Assist faculty during lab activities, competencies, and simulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Report equipment issues, supply shortages, or safety concerns.

Qualifications

• Surgical Technology education or related healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work well with students and faculty.
• Ability to lift, move, and organize laboratory supplies and equipment.
• Dependable, professional, and able to follow established procedures.

• Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

• Healthcare Field: 1 year (Preferred)
• Medical Assisting: 1 year (Preferred)

• Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
