CleanPack Chemist (CDL)

Clean Harbors in Reidsville, NC is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist CDL) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and company policies. The position works indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, customer sites, and involves assisting with lab packs, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections, and lab moves. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Ensure health and safety is the highest priority by complying with all policies and safe work practices. Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications. Inspect staging, accumulation, and storage areas for proper housekeeping and compliance. Inspect drums for leaks, spills, and regulatory labeling. Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal. Execute jobs at Clean Harbors customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies. Finalize preparation and approval of all projects before shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies. Conduct projects/jobs per site‑specific federal, state, and local regulations and health‑and‑safety plans. Understand customer‑specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements. Sample and profile new waste streams or wastes requiring analytical testing. Ensure drum counts are correct and drum conditions are shippable per company policy. Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules. Oper 4 vehicles safely in accordance with US DOT and other applicable requirements. Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures. Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Valid driver’s license. Obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment. Perform required physical functions. Pass background check, drug test, and physical. Meet facial‑hair standards as required by OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.34). Preferred Qualifications: College degree in chemistry or natural science. Previous experience in environmental services (e.g., remediation, abatement, emergency spill response).
