R&D Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a hands‑on R&D Laboratory Technician to support polyurethane foam product development, testing, and commercialization activities in a laboratory and pilot‑production environment. This position will work closely with scientists, engineers, and project leaders to prepare formulations, operate equipment, perform testing, document results, and support customer demonstrations. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial laboratories, manufacturing, chemical processing, production operations, or pilot plant environments and possess strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Key Responsibilities Operate foam processing equipment, including box foamers and support large slab foam production runs Prepare, blend, and dispense formulation materials for testing and development activities Perform laboratory testing and analytical evaluations on rigid and flexible foam products Generate cup foams and record gel times, tack‑free times, and other test results Operate and maintain laboratory and production equipment Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and equipment adjustments Support technology demonstrations and customer visits Package and manage laboratory waste according to safety procedures Record experimental observations and maintain accurate documentation Participate in cross‑functional project teams Assist with inventory management, material staging, and sample shipments Support laboratory safety, quality, and housekeeping programs Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, production, pilot plant, chemical processing, or industrial environment Experience operating industrial equipment or machinery Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document results Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently after training Preferred Qualifications Experience with polyurethane, foam manufacturing, polymers, chemicals, composites, or related materials Laboratory testing or quality control experience Experience with high‑pressure equipment or industrial processing systems Physical Requirements Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the workday Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toed shoes, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required Comfortable working in laboratory and industrial production environments GTech is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating a diverse environment.
