Job Title: Industrial Sewer Job Description

The Industrial Sewer operates industrial sewing machines to assemble and upholster seating components and related products in accordance with company specifications and quality standards. This role involves cutting, sewing, and inspecting fabric, vinyl, and other materials, reading work instructions and production schedules, maintaining a safe and organized work area, and ensuring that all completed products meet established quality requirements. The Industrial Sewer collaborates closely with production and quality teams to achieve daily manufacturing goals while consistently following all safety and company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial sewing machines to assemble and upholster seating components and related products according to specifications and quality standards.

• Cut fabric, vinyl, and other materials using patterns and templates to prepare pieces for sewing and upholstery.

• Sew and join material components accurately, ensuring proper alignment, seam strength, and overall product appearance.

• Read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and job travelers to complete tasks in the correct sequence and within required timeframes.

• Inspect materials and finished products for defects, quality issues, and adherence to company standards, making adjustments as needed.

• Perform basic upholstery tasks, including fitting, attaching, and finishing coverings on seating components.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of materials and tools.

• Follow all safety guidelines and company procedures while operating sewing equipment and handling materials.

• Communicate with production and quality team members to resolve issues, clarify specifications, and support daily manufacturing goals.

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding daily production targets by working efficiently and maintaining consistent output.

Essential Skills

• Proven industrial sewing experience with the ability to operate industrial sewing machines safely and efficiently.

• Pattern cutting experience, including reading and using patterns and templates to cut materials accurately.

• Strong sewing skills, including precise stitching, seam alignment, and attention to detail.

• Ability to perform basic upholstering tasks on seating components and related products.

• Experience working in a production or assembly environment with a focus on quality and throughput.

• Ability to read and follow written work instructions and production schedules.

• Attention to detail for inspecting materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work area and following safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with fabric, vinyl, and other upholstery materials.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
