Seasonal Gardener / Horticulturist

Seasonal Gardener The Gardener/Horticulturist will maintain and assist in the maintenance of the landscape at the Edgefield property as directed by the Garden Manager or Assistant Garden Manager. Responsibilities include hand weeding, watering, planting, transplanting, mulching, edging garden beds, pruning, shearing, deadheading herbaceous and woody plants, staking, fertilizing, soil care, clearing debris, pest and disease detection and treatment, weed control, and inspection of hard surfaces such as patios, walkways, curbing, stairways, stairwells, and parking lots. The gardener must also carry out necessary repairs and preventative maintenance. Sub‑divisional duties may include propagation of plants from the property, seed propagation, greenhouse and nursery production and maintenance, seasonal décor and floristry, crafting plant gifts for sale, assisting customers at plant sales, maintaining the vegetable garden, harvesting, production, and processing plant products for use by other departments. Operations may require the use of small equipment including string trimmers, edgers, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, small tractors, ride‑on equipment, and hand power tools for minor construction and repairs. The position may also involve small irrigation repairs and general lawn care.
