Here are some highlights of what Synagro has to offer:15 days paid time off10 HolidaysMedical/Dental/Vision (within 30 days of hire)Health Saving Account (HSA) with company matchFlexible Spending Account (FSA)401(k) with company match (fully vested upon hire)Career growth and promotional opportunitiesTuition ReimbursementJOB SUMMARYThe Fleet and Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs all mechanical maintenance on fleet equipment, including, but not limited to, trucks, trailers, and agricultural equipment (containers, loading apparatus, farm tractors, hydraulic systems, diesel engines and wheel loaders).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESProvide timely and efficient service to Synagro vehicles and equipmentTroubleshoot, diagnose, repair, recondition, and service equipment systems and components or make sure they get to the correct vendor of repairCommunicate findings and make recommendations to managementComply with all DOT regulations, including timely and accurate submission of Driver Daily Logs, completion of a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) and thorough compliance with all applicable Federal and Local laws pertaining to motor carriersPerform daily inspection and required preventative maintenanceOperate truck in a safe manner at all timesMaintain professional company image over the road by practicing safe and courteous driving at all times and using only approved haul routesKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESComply with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws pertaining to motor carriers, DOT rules and regulationsAbility to work with minimal supervisionBasic welding knowledgeMust be competent in fuel systems, engine groups, and failure analysisOperate hand tools and/or power hand tools in a safe and efficient mannerAscend and descend stairs and ladders as part of normal work activity as well as crawling, squatting, bending, and climbing on and off vehiclesAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodationAbility to rebuild equipment and vehicle electrical experienceAbility to keep and maintain electronic and local hard copy equipment filesEnter all work orders electronicallyAbility to work overtimeEDUCATION/EXPERIENCESHigh School diploma or GED equivalent required2 – 4 years' mechanical and electrical experience with heavy trucks, trailers, heavy equipmentWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSShop based environment with various operating machines.
