Employment Security Representative II

Your Specific Responsibilities

Provides information and recruitment assistance to employers in the Miami area as part of the Economic Development efforts for South Florida.

Market Management Services functions and programs throughout the local community through visits to employers, community organizaton, and private agencies.

Conduct group and or individual orientation, informing customers about labor market information, job qualification employers demands (job criteria) and training opportunities available through community resources and refer as appropriate. Assist in eliminating barriers to participation and job opportunities in the community by instructing customers in job interviewing techniques, resume' preparation assistance, etc.

Refer customers to community resources for appropriate employment related services and perform placement services as required to foster and further economic development for the people in our community.

• Computer application skills and working knowledge/experience using Microsoft applications

Qualifications

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum

• The incumbent must possess or obtain certification as a workforce Professional (Tier 1) within 12 months of employment in the position.
• Required to travel locally and must furnish own transportation.

Preferred

• One year of experience in customer service.
• One year of experience in performing presentations and training.

Pay

$39,200 annually.

The Work You Will Do

Assists employers throughout the Region as part of economic development efforts for South Florida by posting and managing job openings in Employ Florida. Works closely with employers on recruitment and pre ‑ screening of candidates prior to job fairs and recruitment events; markets local programs such as On ‑ the ‑ Job Training (OJT) and Employed Worker Training to support business needs. Refers job seekers to employers and performs placement services as required to foster and further economic development in the Region.

Ensures that all job orders in Employ Florida comply with Florida Commerce (Department of Economic Opportunity/Commerce) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) requirements. Assists in eliminating barriers to participation and employment opportunities by providing guidance on job interviewing techniques, résumé preparation, and job readiness. Refers customers to community resources for appropriate employment ‑ related services and performs placement services to support workforce development within the community.

Manages the regional Placement Verification Tool, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and compliance with all employment verifications across the Region. Assists in special projects as needed to support operational and programmatic goals. This position is assigned to the Job Bank Unit and supports job fairs, employer recruitment events, staff training, and continuous engagement activities to strengthen employer partnerships and enhance service delivery across the Region.

Where You Will Work

Miami-Dade County the most southern portion of the mainland of Florida. According to a 2019 census report, the county had a population of 2,716,940, making it the most populous county in Florida and the seventh-most populous county in the United States. Anglers often fall in love with the jetty at north end of beach which tourists and locals alike can be found in the tiny cafes in the nearby Town of Surfside or the elegant bistros in Bal Harbour Shops on any given day of the week. Surfside Beach is one of the few beaches in Miami Dade County that has no commercial properties encroaching on the sand – no hotels, no shops, no restaurants blocking the mile long view of the lovely sand beach.
