RN - Psychiatric Services / Psych Unit

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered care across a diverse behavioral health population. The RN may serve in multiple units, including: Adolescent Psychiatry General Adult Psychiatry Geriatric Psychiatry Mood Disorders Transitional Youth Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care in accordance with unit policies. Supervise non-RN staff and coordinate patient care activities. Serve as charge nurse when assigned, delegating and overseeing unit operations. Support multiple behavioral health units based on patient needs and staffing priorities. Develop, communicate, and document a plan of care reflecting individualized patient problems and interventions to achieve desired outcomes. Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and coordinate the plan of care. Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care, patient response, and readiness for discharge; revise the plan as needed and make referrals where indicated. Plan and provide education after assessing the individual learning needs of the patient and family. Precept new staff and provide mentorship. Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self development as outlined in performance reviews. Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit. Demonstrate competency in neuro patient care, including airway management, tracheostomy suctioning, and the use of ventilator equipment. Participate in the teaching program and assist with special neuro procedures. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in electronic patient records and internet literature searches related to patient care. Valid state of Connecticut registered nurse license.
