Accounting Manager

Position Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Legal, this role supports the preparation of financial statements, manages the monthly close process, maintains internal controls, and assists with budgeting and compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, collaborating across departments, and contributing to the financial success of a growing manufacturing business. Key Responsibilities Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial record maintenance. Supervise and support day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets. Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses in partnership with the Director of Finance & Legal. Support inventory accounting and cost accounting activities to ensure accurate valuation and reporting. Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures. Coordinate annual audits and assist with external auditors, tax preparers, and other financial partners. Prepare financial reports and schedules to support business decision-making and leadership reporting. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience managing month-end close and preparing financial statements. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications CPA designation or CPA-track experience preferred but not required. Experience in manufacturing, food and beverage, or consumer packaged goods environments. Familiarity with inventory and cost accounting principles. Experience with ERP systems and financial process improvements. Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting staff.
