Cyber Threat Analyst

The official title of this position is Supervisory Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), GS‑2210‑14. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to meeting the qualification requirement listed above, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS‑grade level (or equivalent). Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. You qualify at the GS‑14 grade level, if you have: Leading or supervising an Information Technology (IT) cybersecurity or cyber threat analysis team in a Federal, state, or large enterprise environment, including planning work, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and managing workloads; Providing cyber threat‑focused support to network defense operations, such as incident response, threat hunting, security operations, or detection engineering, by integrating threat information into detection, analysis, containment, or remediation activities on organizational networks; Conducting or overseeing analysis of significant cyber threats (for example, nation state, or other highly capable adversaries) and translating technical findings about infrastructure, tools, and tactics, techniques, and procedures into actionable IT security or defensive measures; AND Developing or implementing cybersecurity operations plans, procedures, playbooks, or standard operating processes for cyber defense or cyber threat analysis functions, in coordination with internal or external stakeholders. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
