Director/Senior Director, AI/ML for Drug Discovery
Septerna
Septerna seeks an experienced AI/ML scientific leader to direct the Data Science function and advance small-molecule drug discovery. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibility to leverage proprietary GPCR structural and assay data through modern computational methods.
Responsibilities
- Lead Data Science team, provide technical direction, and prioritize AI/ML projects
- Develop roadmap for implementing advanced AI/ML approaches using GPCR structural data
- Identify and integrate emerging technologies through internal development or partnerships
- Oversee and extend analysis pipelines for screening and assay data workflows
- Collaborate with Computational Chemistry and Structural Biology teams on discovery acceleration
Requirements
- Expertise in machine learning and statistical methods for drug discovery applications
- Strong scientific foundation in computational chemistry or structural biology
- Leadership experience building and managing scientific teams
- Familiarity with high-throughput screening, DNA-encoded libraries, and assay workflows
- Understanding of modern drug discovery practices and computational tools
- Ability to identify and integrate emerging computational technologies
