Maintenance Electrician
The Maintenance Electrician ensures the efficient operation, upkeep, and safety of all facilities and equipment across office spaces, fabrication shops, and production areas. This role focuses on scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and supporting custom fabrication processes, while strictly following OSHA safety standards, environmental regulations, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Install, maintain, and repair production machinery and facility electrical systems to support continuous operations.
- Support custom fabrication projects by planning, commissioning, and integrating electrical and mechanical systems into structural steel products.
- Follow established maintenance schedules to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues promptly to prevent production delays and maintain workflow.
- Implement preventative maintenance programs to extend equipment lifespan and reduce long-term repair costs.
- Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations, environmental requirements, and internal maintenance policies.
- Operate hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to perform accurate installations and repairs.
- Recommend and implement equipment upgrades and improvements to enhance efficiency, performance, and safety in the facility.
- Maintain organized records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in accordance with company procedures.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance with a focus on facility and production equipment.
- Strong electrical skills, including installation, maintenance, and repair of facility electrical systems and production machinery.
- Hands-on experience in fabrication environments, including working with structural steel and supporting custom builds.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools to ensure accurate alignment, fitting, and installation of components.
- Working knowledge of fitting and structural steel fabrication processes.
- Experience with welding, including MIG welding, in a fabrication or industrial setting.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
- Understanding of OSHA safety standards, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements, with a commitment to safe work practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in facilities maintenance within industrial or fabrication shop environments.
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities with production teams in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Ability to recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements to support efficiency and performance.
- Comfort working in a mostly outdoor fabrication shop environment focused on steel structural products.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for maintaining maintenance schedules and documentation.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with production and fabrication personnel
Work Environment
This role is based in a large, mostly outdoor fabrication shop that specializes in creating steel structural products and supports high-volume industrial work. You will work around fabrication and welding equipment, production machinery, and material handling tools in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes safety and adherence to OSHA standards. The setting is hands-on and industrial, with regular use of PPE and tools such as hand and power tools, electric meters, and welding equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
