Accounting Manager

Hackett Feinberg, a well-established Boston law firm, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the firm's accounting operations. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you'll manage general ledger functions, client trust accounting, payroll, and financial reporting, while playing a key role in month-end/year-end close and process improvement.

What You'll Do

• Monitor cash flow and manage firm bank accounts, wires, and ACH processes
• Administer client trust (IOLTA) accounts in compliance with applicable regulations
• Prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and reconcile accounts monthly
• Process bi-weekly payroll, manage 401(k), PTO, and employee benefits administration
• Coordinate monthly/annual financial closings and prepare financial reports
• Ensure GAAP and tax compliance, including 1099s and Business Use Tax filings
• Identify and lead process improvements, including system transitions

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7-10 years of accounting management experience in a law firm or professional services environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, payroll, and compliance requirements
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment
