Senior Research Analyst

Overview

A leading professional services firm is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to provide advanced legal, business, and industry research support to attorneys and business professionals across multiple practice areas. This role delivers high-value research and strategic insight while serving as a leader in AI-enabled research initiatives, innovation, and knowledge-sharing efforts throughout the organization.

The Senior Research Analyst will play a critical role in mentoring research team members, guiding attorneys on the effective and responsible use of AI-powered research tools, and helping shape research workflows, standards, and best practices. This position is ideal for a research professional with strong analytical skills, legal research expertise, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex legal, business, and industry research for attorneys, practice groups, and firm leadership using a wide range of digital and print resources.
• Serve as a lead research resource for assigned practice groups and strategic initiatives, providing consultative support and subject-matter expertise.
• Act as an internal expert on AI-powered research tools and technologies, advising on best practices, risk mitigation, and appropriate use cases.
• Validate AI-generated research outputs and help design effective AI-assisted research workflows and standards.
• Mentor and train research team members on advanced research techniques, quality standards, and AI-enabled research methodologies.
• Support attorney onboarding and ongoing training initiatives related to legal research, AI adoption, and information literacy.
• Monitor legal, legislative, regulatory, and industry developments and contribute to alerts, newsletters, and internal communications.
• Maintain expertise in legal research databases, business intelligence platforms, document delivery services, and licensing considerations.
• Participate in evaluating research technologies, vendor products, pilot programs, and workflow improvements.
• Collaborate with department leadership on strategic initiatives, process improvements, AI governance, and special projects.
• Provide coverage for research request monitoring and ensure adherence to internal service standards and workflows.
• Deliver high-quality client service through professional, solution-oriented communication and collaboration with attorneys, staff, vendors, and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• JD, MLS, or MLIS degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible research experience required.
• Experience in a large law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring junior researchers or leading research initiatives preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of legal research platforms, business databases, and research methodologies.
• Strong proficiency with AI-powered research and analytics tools, including experience validating outputs and mitigating research risk.
• Ability to train and guide others on both traditional and AI-assisted research strategies.
• Strong analytical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
• Highly organized with strong time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
