Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to ensure the proper cleaning, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and infection control within the surgical services department.

Key Responsibilities

Perform cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment in accordance with established protocols.
Prepare and assemble instrument trays for surgical procedures.
Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
Adhere to all safety and hygiene regulations within the sterile processing area.
Collaborate with surgical teams to fulfill equipment and instrument requests promptly.

Shift Details

Schedule: Evening Shift - 5x8 hours (1:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
On-Call: One additional Saturday or holiday per 6-week schedule
Weekends: One Saturday per 6-week schedule (Shift 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Qualifications

Certification from IAHCSMM or HSPA is required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a sterile processing environment.
Acute hospital operating room experience is required.
Previous travel experience in sterile processing is preferred.
Basic computer skills are necessary to maintain records and correspondence.
Flu vaccination is mandatory for all employees.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a strong attention to detail. Candidates should be effective communicators, ready to collaborate within a team setting.
