Assignment Overview

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering cardiopulmonary care services as per physician orders and departmental policies. This role involves assessing, treating, and caring for patients with respiratory disorders, with an emphasis on providing safe and effective therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and complete respiratory assessments of patients.
• Conduct initial screenings and reassess pain as needed.
• Determine treatment requirements in accordance with physician orders.
• Formulate and evaluate patient/family teaching plans.
• Monitor physiological responses and consult with physicians for adverse reactions.
• Administer medications based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Conduct tests to evaluate cardiopulmonary functions.
• Perform routine cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation.
• Comply with established safety procedures and participate in performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current IL Respiratory Therapist License
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• NRP Certification
• PALS Certification

Preferred:

• Respiratory Therapy experience minimum 1 year
• Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs
