Senior Java Microservices Engineer

Salary: $124,000 - 164,000 per year Requirements:

• 7–9 years of experience; at least 3 years designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering Technology, Information Systems, CIS/MIS, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience or training
• Airline industry experience
• Software development experience
• Proficiency with Java, Python, C#, and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with Spring/Spring Boot, FastAPI, Angular/React, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, REST, GraphQL, Azure, and AWS
• Familiarity with test automation tools including Selenium, TestNG, Postman, SonarQube, Cypress, JUnit/NUnit/PyTest, Cucumber, Playwright, and Wiremock/Mockito/Moq
• Ability to optimize solutions for performance, resiliency, and reliability while maintaining simplicity
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly verbally, in writing, in code, and through diagrams
• Ability to design systems across multiple teams to support small, safe, incremental releases
• Ability to collaborate and share responsibilities effectively
• Ability to combine deep product-domain knowledge with awareness of emerging technology to advance organizational technical capabilities
• Proficiency in object-oriented design principles and techniques
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies such as Scrum and DevOps practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with people at all organizational levels

• Write tests and document technical work products, including code, scripts, and processes, in accordance with organizational standards
• Solve technical problems and build components or libraries with broad impact
• Deliver high-quality work and coach less experienced engineers in technical craftsmanship
• Conduct root cause analyses to identify systemic issues and lead action plans to address them
• Design integrated systems that apply organizational best practices and help teams across product domains deliver quickly, reliably, and at scale
• Manage technical debt in existing systems and identify opportunities to reduce it during ongoing implementations
• Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges and guide teams in applying mitigation strategies
• Partner with security teams to embed security-conscious practices early in the system development lifecycle
• Assess technical risks and guide practical prevention strategies
• Review squad delivery practices, recommend improvements to leadership, and lead their implementation
• Identify opportunities to reduce duplicated effort and encourage reuse across teams
• Assess team capabilities and identify individual development needs
• Explore emerging technologies, independently lead prototype development, and incorporate suitable technologies into architectural solutions

We are recruiting a Senior Java Microservices Engineer for a contract role based in Fort Worth, Texas (76155). The initial contract is six months, with potential for extension. The role is onsite at SV7 on Tuesdays through Thursdays and remote on Mondays and Fridays. The interview process requires an in-person interview and a coding exercise.
