This role focuses on advancing student health, wellness, and physical literacy through standards-based instruction, professional development, and cross-agency collaboration. The consultant provides leadership in making recommendations for policy, program, and fiscal operations as appropriate to the needs of Health and Physical Education. The consultant may be asked to help support state and federal initiatives. This position is expected to provide expertise in current instructional practices in health and physical education.Job Responsibilities:Support the implementation of North Carolina Health Education and Physical Education standards across K-12 settings.Develop and disseminate instructional resources, guidance documents, and best practices.Design and deliver statewide professional development for educators and district leaders.Facilitate training on standards, assessment, and evidence-based instructional practices.Support educator understanding of whole child approaches, including physical, mental, and social-emotional wellness.Provide technical assistance to improve instructional quality and student outcomes.Facilitate the review and revision of Health and Physical Education standards and related resources.Analyze data to inform program improvement and monitor implementation effectiveness.Support integration of assessment strategies aligned to standards.Interpret and communicate state and federal policies related to health and physical education.Represent NCDPI in statewide and national meetings, committees, and initiatives.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences****Recruitment Range: $63,927.00 - $87,743.00****Manager Preferences:*** Deep understanding of K-12 health and physical education standards and best practices.* Knowledge of the WSCC framework and student wellness initiatives.* Strong facilitation, presentation, and professional learning design skills. The Office also provides technical assistance, professional development, and resources to support all K-12 educators with standards-based instruction.
