 This full-time, on-site position offers an excellent opportunity for an entry-level physician to make a meaningful impact in the field of mental health and psychiatric care.

As a Locum Psychiatry Physician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with a wide range of mental health conditions, providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, and developing individualized treatment plans. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in a supportive clinical environment that values collaboration, patient-centered care, and continuous professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions as appropriate.
• Collaborate with psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records in compliance with facility standards.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and available resources.
• Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated care.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Stay current with advancements in psychiatric research, treatments, and best practices.

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a residency program in Psychiatry (recent graduates or early-career physicians welcome).
• Valid medical license to practice as a physician.
• Strong clinical knowledge of psychiatric disorders, diagnostic criteria, and evidence-based treatments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Compassion, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to care.
• Strong problem-solving and clinical decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Schedule: 10-hour day shifts, 7 on/7 off

Call: Overnight shifts, weeknights and weekends

Setting: Inpatient

Daily Volume: 20 patients

Patient Population: Adults and occasional geriatric

Duties: Rounding, admits/discharges, consults, H&Ps

Support Staff: Nurse, tech, physicians, PMHNPs, and social worker

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

Additional Certifications: DEA
