GIS Data Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and business-facing Data Analyst to join a fast-paced telecom environment supporting strategic decision-making across multiple business units. This individual will be responsible for translating complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that drive cost optimization, ROI analysis, and operational improvements.

This role requires someone who is not only technically strong, but also able to communicate the “why” behind the data and partner with leadership to influence decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources (7+ systems of record) to generate business insights

• Build and manipulate datasets using SQL and Python to support reporting and modeling efforts

• Translate data findings into clear, concise presentations for non-technical stakeholders

• Partner with cross-functional teams to solve business problems and drive strategic decisions

• Evaluate cost vs. return across initiatives and assign measurable business value to insights

• Identify and proactively recommend new opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, or revenue optimization

• Ensure alignment across stakeholders by managing data validation, collaboration, and sign-off processes

• Work with geographically based data using GIS tools to support network or market analysis

• Contribute to building scalable processes for data movement, storage, and accessibility

Skills and Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with:

o SQL (advanced querying, data extraction)

o Python (preferred for data manipulation and movement across datasets/databases)

• Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources

• Exposure to GIS tools and spatial data analysis

• Familiarity with data architecture tools (e.g., Arch or other open-source technologies)

• Proven ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences

• Experience working in smaller, agile environments or organizations

• Strong collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to work across business and technical teams Preferred Background

• Experience within telecommunications or similar data-heavy industries

• Exposure to network, customer, or operational telecom data

• Candidates who balance technical execution with business acumen

Note: Candidates with highly academic backgrounds (e.g., PhD) without strong business communication skills may not be the best fit. This role requires someone who can connect data to real-world outcomes.
