Salary: $50,000- $55,000 + Full Benefits + Professional Development Stipend

For 16 years, The Dream Project has helped college-bound students with vulnerable documentation status pursue higher education through scholarships, mentoring, and case management. We believe every young person deserves a champion in their corner — and our Mentorship Coordinator will help build and sustain the relationships that turn that belief into action.

About the Role
We’re looking for a bilingual (English-Spanish), relationship-driven early-career professional to coordinate our mentorship program — recruiting and training mentors, matching them thoughtfully with students, and supporting both mentors and families through the journey. This is a hands-on, people-first role for someone who wants to see their daily work translate directly into a young person’s sense of possibility. The role is mostly external facing.

You’ll work closely with students, parents, volunteer mentors,external partners and our broader team to ensure every match is a strong one — and that every relationship is supported with the tools, check-ins, and encouragement it needs to thrive. This role has been expanded from a part-time position to a full time role in order to be able to help more students- expanding the program from being focused on High School seniors to include college students and younger high school students.

The candidate selected will receive training upon starting the role to learn about our three core mentorship programs and will have a full roster of existing mentors and a mentoring structure and curriculum already in place as core foundations upon which to grow the program.

• Recruit, screen, and train volunteer mentors and students from the community.Thoughtfully match mentors with students based on interests, goals, and needs
• Maintain regular contact with mentors, mentees, and parents/guardians to support strong relationships.
• Plan and facilitate mentor training, workshops, and community-building events (most are based on prior events and our curriculum).
• 65% of our Dream scholars are Hispanic, hence the opportunity to communicate with Spanish-speaking families with warmth, cultural fluency, and clarity.
• Track program data and report outcomes; help evaluate and improve the mentorship model.
• Represent The Dream Project at community events, school partnerships, and recruitment fairs.
• Maintain accurate records of contact information for all students, parents, and mentors.
• Track mentorship progress and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with the scholarship and case management teams to provide holistic student support.
• Monitor student attendance and follow up with mentees who have unexpected absences.
• Work with counselors, and college representatives to enhance the program activities  
• Facilitate or train stakeholders based on curriculum needs and expectations
• Engage and maintain clear communications with alumni to increase engagement 
• Manage from end-to-end our core mentoring programs:

1. Dream Project & Stanford Summer College Ready Bootcamp Program (“Bridge to Dreams”) – Support a virtual summer mentorship program pairing high school seniors with a challenging immigration status with Stanford student  mentors. Our program fosters opportunities for higher education, increases college acceptance rates for undocumented students, and promotes broader representation in academia. Mentees and mentors receive small stipends for participation.

2. The College Track Dream Project Mentoring Program- matches high school students with a volunteer mentor to work together from September to March. Mentors provide college and scholarship application guidance to students based on their immigration status and individual circumstances.

3. The CTE Track Mentoring Program matches high school students and recent CTE scholarship recipients with a volunteer mentor to work together from December to January Mentors provide scholarship application guidance to students based on their immigration status, career training interest, and individual circumstances. 

Who You Are

• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish— the candidate must feel comfortable speaking about education-related concepts and content to families that only speak Spanish.
• A recent university graduate, current graduate student, or graduate alum.
• 2+ years of experience working directly with young people and/or parents through: tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, youth ministry, RA/RD work, etc.
• Experience organizing or leading a mentorship program, fellowship, internship pipeline, professional development initiative, or student club with a mentoring/leadership component.
• Deeply socially conscious, with a genuine commitment to educational equity and cultural competency in working with immigrant and first-generation student communities.
• Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple relationships and timelines at once.
• Comfortable with warmth and structure in equal measure: mentees and mentors alike should feel both cared for and well-supported.
• Familiarly with Zoom, Canva and Google Suite
• Experience in designing and delivering training sessions or workshops is a plus.
• Experience with event planning and execution is a plus 
• Based in the DC/Northern Virginia area (hybrid schedule).
