Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm. Generous state‑paid benefit allowance to help cover insurance premiums Wide choice of insurance plans with no pre‑existing condition exclusions or limitations Flexible spending accounts for health care expenses and/or dependent care Retirement Savings Plan with a generous match 15 days of vacation and 15 days of sick leave in the first year for full‑time employees 11 paid holidays per year Student loan repayment options and tuition reimbursement Employee discounts with a variety of companies and vendors Longevity bonus for years of service Position Description SoonerStart is Oklahoma’s early intervention program designed to meet the needs of families with infants and toddlers (ages birth to 3 years old) with developmental delays and/or disabilities in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The program builds upon and provides supports and resources to assist family members to enhance infants or toddlers’ learning and development through everyday learning opportunities. The Speech‑Language Pathologist in the SoonerStart program provides diagnostic and therapeutic services in the areas of speech and language, which may include help with social communication, speech sounds, and feeding/swallowing. Services are delivered in the child’s natural environment—home or childcare settings—and include screenings, evaluations, intervention, and parent education. Essential Functions (All Levels) Provide early intervention services in the child and family’s natural environment (home, childcare, park, etc.) Participate in family interviews and conduct intakes, including client interviews. Conduct assessments to make appropriate recommendations for services. Evaluate and treat children with suspected developmental communication delays to determine the need for services. Collaborate with families and caregivers to identify goals, develop strategies, and implement effective family intervention service plans. Coach caregivers on implementing strategies to increase communication. Provide services to families in their native language through collaboration with interpreters when necessary. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team to monitor the effectiveness of child health and development services. Perform hearing screenings and make appropriate referrals. Conduct group and individual speech and language treatment as appropriate. Prepare and maintain progress reports, evaluations, and records as needed. Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team in completing assessments and developing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). Consult with community agencies, childcare, and school systems on behalf of families and may provide special programs as requested. Maintain confidential records of services, including progress notes and evaluation reports, in compliance with state and federal regulations. Be present at the office as an essential function of the job. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications LevelI: Master’s degree in speech pathology, including academic and practicum requirements for certification by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association. LevelII: Master’s degree in speech pathology and certification as an SLP by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association. LevelIII: Certification as a Speech‑Language Pathologist by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association plus an additional three years of post‑certification experience as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in a clinical specialty or educational setting. Application Requirements Applicants must provide documentation of education, certification, or licensure at the time of application. All applicants are subject to a background check and must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the pathology of communication disorders, phonetics, anatomy and physiology of the speech and hearing function, and diagnostic testing and treatment techniques for communication disorders. Ability to discuss communication disorders with other treatment professionals and families; to plan and execute treatment programs; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is typically performed in the child’s natural environment (home or childcare setting) or in an office environment with climate‑controlled settings and moderate noise levels. Telework or remote service provision may also be required. Employees must talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and may lift up to 35pounds. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
