We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key financial operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Memphis, Tennessee. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage core close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure account balances are properly supported. The position offers the chance to contribute to a fast-paced finance environment while partnering with internal stakeholders to uphold reporting accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly closing activities by preparing and reviewing financial entries to keep reporting timely and accurate.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording transactions correctly and resolving discrepancies that affect financial statements.
• Complete journal entry preparation with appropriate documentation and ensure entries align with accounting standards and internal policies.
• Perform account reconciliations on a recurring basis to confirm balances are accurate and fully supported.
• Review and reconcile bank activity to identify variances, clear outstanding items, and preserve cash reporting accuracy.
• Analyze financial data and investigate unusual trends or inconsistencies to support reliable month-end reporting.
• Collaborate with finance team members and other departments to gather information needed for close processes and account review.
• Assist with process improvement efforts and support accounting-related operational changes when needed within the finance function.• Demonstrated experience in month-end close activities within a corporate or public sector accounting environment.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial record maintenance.
• Hands-on ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high degree of accuracy.
• Experience performing detailed account reconciliations and resolving outstanding variances.
• Proficiency in bank reconciliations and cash-related account analysis.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
• Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize assignments, and work effectively in a structured finance setting.
