This role applies advanced project-management expertise, strong execution judgment, and stakeholder leadership to deliver outcomes across multiple functions, timelines, and constraints.Role OverviewThe Project Manager III owns large or high-complexity projects, or multiple related initiatives, often involving competing priorities, significant change, and elevated stakeholder visibility. The role goes beyond routine execution into trade-off management, decision framing, and organizational influence. This position does not include formal people-management responsibility but provides informal leadership and mentorship to Project Manager I–II roles and analysts. The role typically reports to a Senior Project Manager, Program Manager, PMO Lead, or Functional Leader.Key ResponsibilitiesSenior Project Leadership & OwnershipLead end-to-end delivery of complex, high-visibility projectsDefine project strategy, scope, objectives, milestones, and success metricsEnsure alignment between project outcomes and business prioritiesIntegrated Planning & ExecutionDevelop and maintain integrated project plans across multiple workstreamsManage critical paths, dependencies, and sequencing across teamsBalance scope, schedule, cost, and quality trade-offs to maintain deliveryRisk, Issue & Change ManagementProactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issuesLead resolution of non-routine or high-impact challengesManage scope change through disciplined change-control processesCross-Functional & Stakeholder LeadershipInfluence and align senior stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, IT, Finance, Supply Chain, and other functionsFacilitate decision-making in ambiguous or constrained environmentsServe as the primary point of accountability and escalationReporting, Analysis & Executive CommunicationTrack progress against schedule, scope, cost (if applicable), and performance metricsProvide clear, executive-ready status updates, insights, and recommendationsPrepare materials for steering reviews, leadership updates, and governance forumsGovernance & Delivery DisciplineEnforce adherence to project-management standards, tools, and governance requirementsEnsure transparency, accountability, and documentation qualitySupport audits, reviews, and project assurance activitiesFinancial & Resource Oversight (as applicable)Manage project budgets and forecasts within approved parametersCoordinate resource planning and capacity constraints with functional leadersSupport variance analysis and corrective actionsContinuous Improvement & Best PracticesCapture lessons learned and improvement opportunitiesApply insights to improve future project delivery and execution modelsContribute to development of PMO standards and practicesMentorship & Capability BuildingMentor Project Manager I–II roles and project analystsReview plans, risks, and status for quality and rigorSupport onboarding and development of less-experienced project managersQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or related field requiredProfessional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) preferredTypically 5–8+ years of experience in project management, program delivery, consulting, or operations rolesKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge of project management methodologies and toolsProven ability to lead complex projects independentlyStrong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent stakeholder-management and influence capabilityExecutive-level written, verbal, and presentation communicationHigh standards for accountability, rigor, and delivery disciplineEqual Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at NidecNidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
