AGENCY HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST II *REPOST*] (Full-Time Contractual)

Grade ASTD9 Location of Position MDH Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville, MD 21228 Main Purpose of Job In collaboration with the Director of Environment of Care, this full‑time contractual position utilizes practical knowledge of fire prevention, health, and safety to provide a safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and tenants on the Spring Grove Hospital campus. The position receives general supervision, does not supervise, and is emergency essential. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a State high‑school equivalency certificate. Experience: Two years of experience in safety inspection, safety investigation, or fire prevention. Additional education at an accredited college or university with a concentration in fire protection/science or occupational health and safety technology may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis, up to two years of the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non‑commissioned officer in Occupational Health and Safety classifications or specialty codes on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience. Licenses, Registrations and Certifications Candidates appointed may be assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle and must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license in the State of Maryland. Special Requirements Must provide a reachable telephone number. Subject to 24‑hour call‑in. Benefits Contractual employees working 30 or more hours a week (or an average of 130 hours per month) are eligible for subsidized health benefits under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program. Employees pay 25% of premiums for medical and prescription coverage, with the State covering the remaining 75%. Enrollment is available for dental, accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance, with employee responsible for full premiums. Leave may be granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
