An onsite role eventually in Long Beach, CA (will be in HQ – Costa Mesa, CA for at least the first year), responsible for the development and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs to comply with federal, state, and local regulations at a newly constructed multi-building manufacturing campus. Individual will work first with our real estate and facilities teams to ensure the new campus is constructed with safety and environmental risk mitigation methods in place. As programs and people move into the site, so will you. Thereafter you will work in manufacturing and R&D environments focusing on EHS programs such as occupational safety, chemical management, incident management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, storm water management, air emissions, regulated waste, etc. WHAT YOU’LL DO Assist accident/incidents investigations, analyze root causes, and implement preventative actionsServe as EHS interface and liaison with employees, managers, customers, auditors and regulatorsIdentify workplace safety hazards and conditions for job-related tasks by performing and documenting safety inspectionsHeavy collaboration with other departments to help guide, teach and influence safe behaviors in the workplaceResponsible for hazardous waste management, including proper handling, labeling, and storageRecognize requirements and ensure compliance with safety programs and standards including: hazard communication, fall protection, respiratory protection, lockout/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, power & hand-held tools, electrical, emergency response, and chemical managementREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 4+ years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health and safety programsExperience in Cal/OSHAExperience in 40 CFR Parts 260-279 Hazardous Waste ManagementStrong written and verbal communication skills, effective at engaging with leadership, regulators, front-line staff, and third-party partnersCapability to manage multiple activities/projects and deadlinesU.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled sitesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Well-rounded ESH professional who is comfortable engaging across different levels in the organizationManufacturing experienceLaser Safety Officer certificationHigh energy individual who craves the opportunity to build a system vs just manage oneNatural tendency towards challenging the status quo to find new and novel ways to improve EHS management systemsA person who leans into challenges instead of saying ‘no’ and walking away.US Salary Range$112,000—$149,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
