Fiber Optic Splicer

We are a specialized fiber optics splicing company looking for a reliable, skilled Fiber Splicing Technician to join our tight-knit, efficient crew. This is a critical role in a small, fast-paced company. Responsibilities Perform high-quality fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, and terminations on a variety of fiber optic cables within loose-tube and ribbon configurations. Safely and cleanly prepare, mid-sheath, and build out various splice enclosures, trays, and patch panels to exact specifications. Utilize OTDRs, power meters, visible fault locators, and light sources during day shifts to test, analyze, document, and troubleshoot network paths. Read, interpret, and accurately update splice plans, blueprints, and network diagrams; provide clean trace documentation and as-built data. Execute critical splicing, hot-cuts, and emergency restoration work during night-time maintenance windows (outages) with minimal supervision. Maintain high-end splicing equipment, cleavers, trailers, and company vehicles in a clean, organized, and sterile working condition to prevent fiber contamination. Work efficiently within a tight-knit crew, maintaining clear, proactive, and timely communication regarding scheduling and project completion. Qualifications 1–2+ years of hands-on experience with fiber optic fusion splicing, enclosure preparation, and network testing. Proficiency operating fusion splicers, precision cleavers, OTDRs, power meters, and fiber identifier tools. Ability and willingness to work a dynamic schedule, including consistent night shifts for maintenance windows/outages and day shifts for testing. Ability to read, interpret, and follow fiber splice designs, color-coding schematics, and network blueprints. High level of personal accountability, with a history of strong attendance and proactive communication regarding schedules. Ability to work in tight or enclosed spaces (such as splicing trailers or vaults), maintain fine motor dexterity for glass handling, and work under various weather conditions.
