Job Title: Registered Nurse - IMCU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours, Days Hours per Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience License: Must hold a valid state nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Positive attitude - ICU experience preferred - Ability to titrate drips Description: The unit has 22 private beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5 for both day and night shifts. Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions, open heart recovery, cranial cases, and cardiac catheterizations. Titrating drips includes Cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin for blood pressure, insulin, and heparin. Dopamine and dobutamine are used for renal dosing. There is a team lead charge nurse during the day who does not take on patients. Charge nurses on nights, weekends, and holidays do take patients. Nurse aides are present at a 1:10 ratio, assisting with blood sugars, vital signs, and activities of daily living. Respiratory Therapy equipment used includes CPAP, BIPAP, and HFNC. Registered Nurses read telemetry, and a centralized telemetry technician assists with monitoring. The manager schedules shifts and attempts to accommodate block scheduling when possible. Weekend requirements are every other weekend and holiday requirements are also every other. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating may be required to the ICU for PCU level patients or to medical-surgical units for full assignments. Scrubs are Caribbean in color. Unit-specific orientation consists of one 12-hour shift.
