Junior Staff Accountant
Our client is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build upon their experience in reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities within the mortgage banking industry. The Junior Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and work closely with Senior Accounting team members on special projects and ad hoc requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the accounting department inbox
- Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist with month-end close activities (5-day monthly close; approximately 9-day quarterly close)
- Escalate non-routine accounting issues to appropriate team members
- Support the Senior Accountant with ad hoc projects and reporting requests
- Utilize accounting and reporting tools including:
- Fiserv Prologue (ERP)
- Encompass (Loan Operating System)
- Excel
- Power BI
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with:
- Bank reconciliations
- Account reconciliations
- Journal entries
- Strong Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUPs
- Mortgage industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Power BI
