Aerospace Parts PreparationShift: Monday through Friday 6:15am to 2:45pmPosition Purpose:Prepare Aerospace parts for paintingEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Follow Lean Manufacturing and 6s practicesVisually inspect parts prior to painting to identify failures and damageEnsure parts to be painted are clear of dirt or foreign material, and clean them if necessaryReview work orders for missed processes and fill out/maintain paperworkPrepare parts using tools such as sandpaper, electric sander, etc. to achieve finish look of Drawing/Specification/Traveler calloutPrepare a mix and apply a putty mix to non-conforming areas of the partsMaintain knowledge of current specifications and call outsTouching up and/or masking and unmasking of partsFollow hazardous chemical and waste handling proceduresWear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properlyMust be able to read and interpret all MSDS sheets on all chemicals being usedDevelop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over timeIdentify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiencyMaintain safe working practices and ensure area is clean and free of any possible unsafe situationsResponsible for following all established Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures and safety practicesOther duties as assignedJob Qualifications/Requirements:High school diploma or GEDSix months to one-year related paint experience preferredSkill in prioritizing and managing a fast-paced work environmentAbility to use a computer for basic Microsoft Office functions (includes Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)Excellent attention to detailAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and ability to apply basic mathematical skills to the work environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, team oriented, and ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities and communication stylesAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsSkill in organizing, identifying, and recognizing differences or similaritiesAdaptable to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplaceAccepting constructive criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with stressful situationsWillingness to take on responsibilities and challengesMust be able to wear and properly use the required personal protective equipment.Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.Candidates must be a "US Person" (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)Environmental Condition:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position or move about the work area as needed; regularly use hands and fingers for grasping, handling, feeling, fine manipulation, and eye-hand coordination; and frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials and parts, generally up to 25 pounds and occasionally 25 to 50 pounds or more with assistance or proper equipment as needed. The role may also require bending, reaching above and below shoulder level, turning or twisting, and occasional use of stairs, ladders, kneeling, balancing, or similar movements. Visual abilities, including near and far acuity, depth perception, and color perception, are required to inspect parts, identify defects, read work instructions, and verify paint preparation quality. The employee must be able to hear ordinary workplace communication and safety signals.
