As a Certified Medical Physicist, you will play a critical role in the design, optimization, and delivery of advanced radiation treatment plans, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and patient safety. Working collaboratively with physicians, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and clinical leaders, you will provide technical leadership and expertise in treatment planning, quality assurance, and radiation safety. Under the direction of the Administrative Director/Manager or Chief Physicist, you will help drive innovation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all radiation oncology services. What You'll Do: *Design, optimize, and evaluate radiation treatment plans to ensure precise and effective patient care. *Provide expert technical guidance for radiation therapy procedures, technologies, and treatment delivery. *Partner with Radiation Oncology leadership and clinical teams to maintain comprehensive quality management and quality assurance programs. *Collaborate with the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of radiation safety. *Support the implementation of new technologies, treatment techniques, and process improvements that enhance patient outcomes. *Contribute to a culture of teamwork, excellence, and continuous learning within the Radiation Oncology department. Essential Functions Oversees the development and implementation of the procedure for calibration of radiation therapy equipment in accordance with the current standards of the American Association of Physicist in Medicine (AAPM) and state and federally governed agencies and formulates and oversees all aspects of brachytherapy within the department and those procedures performed in other departments in collaboration with the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to maintain safety standards. Assumes responsibility for providing performing calibrations and quality control in compliance with state regulations and in accordance with the standards of AAPM on all therapeutic radiation machines as required by the Division of Radiation Control and commissions new or upgraded equipment to achieve compatibility with existing machines. Coordinates with the Chief Therapist the technical functions in the department in order to ensure that physician's instructions for simulation and treatment of patients are carried out as prescribed and intended, and directs, coordinates and performs all aspects of treatment planning, preparation of beam shaping devices, etc. Actively works as a Medical physicist and provides routine clinical radiation therapy physicist services, consults with oncologists on the physical aspects of patient's treatment, and assists in the development of radiation treatment plans. Coordinates the radioactive Materials Licenses issued by the NRC and state agencies pertaining to brachytherapy sources with the RSO, reports all variances to administrative staff and the Radiation Safety Officer, researches new equipment developments and techniques, assess the impact on and reviews existing local standards, advises on procurement of new equipment and compiles reports to initiate changes. Schedules rotations as appropriate between facilities, acts as an advocate for new and advanced technology, participates in the development and implementation of department Quality Improvement Plan and ensures the delivery of high quality health care. Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned May provide in-services for staff training, serve as Radiation Safety Officer, and write policies and procedures in collaboration with other Radiation Oncology leaders.

Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Health or Medical Physics from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). Certification by one of the following: American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology Physics or Canadian College of Medical Physics. Licensure in the state of practice as required. For care sites in Colorado RMP/QI/QE(t) required.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of operating systems, software installation, file management and computer hardware. Administration and clinical development of Oncology Information Systems (Varian Aria). Conversant in network topology, server infrastructure, backup system design. General programming experience (SQL, Python, scripting, C/C++/C#). Troubleshooting linac network communication with R&V system. CT Sim operation including laser control and 4DCT reconstruction and image processing. Knowledge of DICOM CT, MR, & PET image handling and DICOM RT data transfer. Two (2) years of clinical experience (including residency). Eligible to be on a RAM license for HDR and as a registered medical physicist in the State of practice. DABR certified

Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
