Radiation Therapist

Job Description

The radiation therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with New York State Department of Health Code part 16 guidelines. This position involves operating high voltage machinery safely and accurately while ensuring patient welfare at all times. The radiation therapist must conduct themselves in a responsible and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.
• Accurately maintain patient treatment parameters in the electronic medical record.
• Interpret computerized treatment plans and observe patients for adverse reactions.
• Report any adverse reactions to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or the Radiation Oncologist immediately.
• Facilitate complex problem-solving regarding technical issues.
• Adhere to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York (can obtain during onboarding).
• ARRT certification is required.
• Satisfactory completion of a training program in a Radiation Therapy Technology program in an AMA approved school.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a shift from 07:30 to 16:00.
