About Truckee Sanitary District (TSD), formed in 1906, is an award‑winning public agency responsible for the collection and conveyance of wastewater for the rapidly growing mountain community of Truckee, California, located just 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe. The District owns and operates over 200 miles of sewer mains, 13,000 laterals, 44 pump stations, 4 buildings, and a fleet of over 40 vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities Plan, organize, direct, and review activities and operations of the Engineering Department, including information systems, capital project planning, environmental planning, design, construction, and permitting programs. Coordinate with other departments, outside agencies, and ensure compliance with technical specifications. Provide complex technical support to the General Manager. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervise professional, technical, and administrative staff. Manage the District’s Capital Improvement Program, including planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects. Oversee review, permitting, and inspection of residential, commercial, and industrial development within the District’s boundaries to ensure compliance with District standards. Ideal Candidate TSD is seeking a highly qualified individual to join its leadership team in the position of District Engineer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer, asset manager, and leader motivated to strategically lead the Engineering Department in support of the District’s mission to protect public health and the environment in the Truckee area. Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related engineering field and five (5) years of professional engineering in the water/wastewater industry including three (3) years in a supervisory or management position. Licenses Must possess California State Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer. Possess a California (or Nevada) Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (desirable).
