Location: MO-SSM Health DePaul Hospital - St. Louis

Worker Type: PRN

The role involves conducting diagnostic procedures on patients utilizing ultrasound technology to assess body structures and tissues, ensuring high-quality images for analysis. Candidates must be registered sonographers with at least two relevant certifications for the specific department(s) they serve, such as ABD/OB, ABD/MSK, ABD/BR, or OB/FE.

• Utilize the second registry in the primary or secondary department at least 30% of the time.
• Set up and calibrate all necessary equipment, manually adjusting transducers for examinations.
• Adhere to safety protocols and execute quality control measures effectively.
• Conduct both routine and advanced imaging studies, assisting in various procedures.
• Identify significant anatomical structures, artifacts, pathologies, and equipment limitations.
• Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and report any issues to the appropriate personnel, including locking/tagging out equipment when necessary.
• Submit high-quality images and documentation to PACS promptly, ensuring proper labeling and patient history.
• Help maintain a clean and organized department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
• Comply with all regulatory standards.
• Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Completion of an accredited Sonography program is required.

No prior experience is necessary.

• Constantly standing and walking.
• Frequent visual and depth perception tasks for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
• Regularly using hearing and speech for effective communication.
• Ability to distinguish body sounds and detect alarms or equipment malfunctions through hearing.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Regularly assisting with patient mobility.
• Frequent reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional visual tasks requiring color differentiation.
• Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
• Rarely kneeling or sitting.

Must hold the following certifications based on the state of work location (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin):

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
• Additional combinations of RDMS certifications in Breast (BR), Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), Musculoskeletal (RMSKS), Fetal Echocardiography (FE), Vascular Specialist (RVS), and Vascular Technologist (RVT) may also be required.
