Primary Purpose To provide opportunities for the teacher to attend to the individual needs of students. To assist staff with students at‑risk of academic failure or dropping out of school. Qualifications Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification Special Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for work to be performed Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to multi‑task activities Computer skills preferred Experience: None Major Responsibilities and Duties One of the primary purposes of this position is to assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at‑risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with students at‑risk of academic failure or dropping out of school. Program Support Assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at‑risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with these students. Check and record student attendance. Reproduce instructional materials. Type forms and instructional materials. Distribute and collect materials for instruction. Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests, score objective‑type teacher‑made tests and quizzes, and record grades as the teacher recommends for students. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills taught by the teacher. Catalogue and file instructional materials and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment and prepare orders or requisitions for needed materials. Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students. Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teachers. Keep bulletin boards and other classroom displays up‑to‑date. Operate equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. Assist students in the library or media center. Assist with the supervision of students during lunch periods, assemblies, play periods, and transitions. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of teachers. Participate in in‑service training programs as assigned. Other Maintain confidentiality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel. Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged standing & sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15‑45 pounds) Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress Additional Information Calendar Days: 187 Pay Grade: ISP1 2025‑2026 Salary Range: Min. $22,540 Mid. $26,333 Max. $30,127 (Based on previous experience) Salary is based on 187 days.
