Electrical Reliability Engineer/Analyst - Chemical/Petrochemical - Houston

Our client, a Fortune 500 global leader in industrial gases and engineering equipment is seeking a Electrical Reliability Engineer/Analyst based out of their regional office in Houston. The Electrical Reliability Engineer will be responsible for analyzing existing predictive systems and assist in development of new electrical analysis technologies to identify equipment defects and anomalies. He/She will utilize advanced diagnostics and analytics using AI and ML for plant equipment such as motors, transformers, and HV/LV switchgear to lower total asset lifecycle costs and ensure safe operation.

The purpose of this position will be to u tilize existing tools and technologies such as: smart relays, partial discharge, transformers health, power quality meter devices as well as safety relay access along e.g., DIGSI software for protection fault analysis. This individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) interfacing with operations and maintenance resources prescribing action related to anomalies and defects discovered in our suite of digital platforms and technology. They will also support root cause failure analysis related to key equipment failures to promote continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a highly collaborative position and will work with all levels of management and engineering both domestic and global.  Will also collaborate with Engineering and vendors/service suppliers for equipment and technology development.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)

• 10+ years relevant work experience in electrical systems within Chemical or Refining industrial complex’s

• Experience in predictive technologies and development

• Detailed knowledge about the electrical equipment and applications within production plants.

• Expert knowledge in electrical systems such as power distribution, transformers, motors
• Good Knowledge in diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques related to Electrical systems and components (e.g. PD analysis, Transformer Health, SEL)
• Familiar with motor start-up procedures and equipment arrangements
• Basic knowledge about control systems, networks, and IT-tools
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills
• Experience in data science: analysing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships
• Excellent communication skills.
• Open to travel approx 25% to regional production sites.
