Role Description Wakefield Law, PC is seeking a full-time, on-site Associate Attorney to join our growing team in Troy, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to build a long-term career in estate planning and probate. The Associate Attorney will work directly with and receive mentorship from a senior estate planning attorney while developing the knowledge and practical experience necessary to become a trusted advisor to clients. Responsibilities include assisting with: Estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related planning documents. Guardianship and conservatorship matters. Trust administration and helping families carry out estate plans after the death or incapacity of a loved one. Client meetings, legal research, document drafting, and court filings. Working collaboratively with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to help clients achieve their planning goals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, eager to learn, and enjoys developing long-term relationships with clients while working in a collaborative office environment. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Active membership in the Michigan Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission). Prior experience or exposure to estate planning, probate, or elder law is preferred but not required. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong legal drafting, organizational, and analytical abilities. Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to outstanding client service. Ability to work collaboratively with a senior attorney and other members of the firm's team. A background or strong interest in finance, accounting, tax, investments, business planning, or financial planning is highly desirable, as many of our clients' legal decisions involve complex financial considerations. Salary & Benefits Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, particularly experience in estate planning, probate, and elder law. Salary expectations will be discussed during the initial phone interview. Full-time employees are eligible for: Competitive base salary based on experience. Employer 401(k) matching contribution.
