Remediation Design Engineer

About the Role We’re seeking mid‑level design engineers with a broad background in environmental site remediation for federal and global private sector clients. Based anywhere in the United States, you’ll work with other scientists, engineers, subject matter experts, and project managers on exciting projects nationwide. You’ll apply your technical experience in the design of environmental remedial actions and/or remediation systems with support from our global remediation technology team. Your analytical skills will be called upon to evaluate site conditions, determine data needs, assess remedial alternatives, perform engineering calculations, and develop designs. You’ll use your technical writing skills to prepare work plans, reports, and design documents, including design specifications. You’ll learn from experienced staff who are ready to mentor and you’ll pass knowledge on to others. As a mid‑level Engineer you’ll be directed by Design Managers and discipline leads, but you will be called on to take ownership of assigned tasks. Most of your work will be office‑based, while field time may be required to support or oversee the gathering of design data. Responsibilities Design environmental remedial actions and remediation systems for federal and private sector projects. Evaluate site conditions, assess data needs, and develop engineering calculations and design documents. Prepare work plans, reports, design specifications, and basis of design reports. Communicate design decisions and action items clearly and proactively with team members. Participate in remote collaboration with nationwide teams and occasional field site visits. Adhere to health, safety, and environmental compliance standards in all work. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field. Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification. Knowledge and experience with environmental remediation technologies, systems, or remedial actions. Minimum of 4 years of on‑the‑job experience in the environmental remediation industry, with project examples. Minimum of 2 years of experience designing environmental remedial actions or remediation systems, with project examples. On‑the‑job experience writing specifications, preparing basis of design reports, and developing design drawings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work remotely with teams located nationwide. Based within the United States. Ideal Qualifications Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain and maintain. Experience in construction or operation of environmental remediation systems or remedial actions. Experience performing and leading environmental field work for remediation projects and an understanding of methodology and procedures. 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification. Experience overseeing subcontractors and/or third‑party construction contractors on active project sites. Strong organizational skills and ability to document design decisions and action items. Compensation The base salary range for this position is $74,700.00 to $130,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
