Position Summary

Avum is looking for a DevSecOps Engineer to design cloud solutions, build CI/CD pipelines, and manage container platforms that support secure, automated software delivery. This role helps ensure infrastructure and deployment processes meet security and compliance requirements within Department of Defense (DoD) network environments.

This position is primarily remote, with onsite attendance required when system issues need physical troubleshooting or support. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of a designated worksite in either the Los Angeles, California area or Northern Virginia and be able to report to their assigned worksite as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy AWS resources (S3, Transfer Server, QuickSight, CloudWatch, EventBridge) using Terraform
• Deploy and manage containerized microservices in OpenShift/Kubernetes environments
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, and ArgoCD, including redesigning existing pipelines rather than just maintaining them
• Administer Kubernetes platform including maintenance, monitoring, patching, and hardening
• Utilize security scanning tools to identify vulnerabilities in code, containers, and infrastructure
• Build secure container images and manage container registries
• Implement IaC automation using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve system and infrastructure issue

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $160,000 annually, with a target midpoint of $145,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and geographic location. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of DevOps/DevSecOps experience
• CompTIA Security+ and Linux+ certifications
• AWS certification (SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer)
• Active Secret clearance (T5 investigation)
• U.S. citizenship required
• Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and CI/CD pipeline development
• Must reside within commuting distance of a designated worksite in either the Los Angeles, California area or Northern Virginia and be available to report onsite as needed for physical troubleshooting or support

Preferred Qualifications

• Terraform certification
• Experience with Ansible and Python/Bash scripting
• NIST 800-53 compliance experience
• Experience with Appian GovCloud
