Position Purpose Food and food service delivery drivers play a critical role in the nation's food supply chain. They deliver products to customers on time and in good condition, and act as the face of the company, building lasting relationships. The CDL‑A driver operates a tractor‑trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over‑the‑road, shuttle, and overnight & drive‑and‑drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and related products. The driver ensures compliance with DOT regulations, responds to customer queries, and supports the department as a team member. JOB FUNCTIONS – Major Functional Responsibilities Perform required safety checks (pre/post trip inspections of vehicle and trailer per DOT regulations), report any safety issues or repairs needed. Follow all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies; immediately report safety hazards. Inspect trailer for proper loading and secured freight; count items, verify customer invoices, complete paperwork accurately and legibly. Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked or secured at all times; unload damaged goods and returns, complete required paperwork at end of shift, remove trash from trailers. Maintain daily record‑keeping and hours‑of‑service requirements, adhering to DOT, state, and company policies. Uphold overall safety standards and follow guidelines for freight handling throughout delivery. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. Qualifications Required education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience. Work experience: 6 months‑1 year commercial driving; food‑service distribution; onboard computer and electronic log system; point‑of‑delivery scanning system; customer‑service experience. Meet state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable). Must be 21 years of age. Meet PFG Motor Vehicle Report requirements for past 3 years. Pass pre‑employment drug test. Meet PFG FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements. Pass road test. Able to obtain new DOT medical card. Able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight (≈60‑90 lb). Must be able to work the assigned schedule. Ability to read, write and communicate in English; English proficiency required.
