Occupational Therapy AssistantWe are seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Independent Living Systems (ILS). ILS, along with its affiliated health plans known as Florida Community Care and Florida Complete Care, is committed to promoting a higher quality of life and maximizing independence for all vulnerable populations.The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) plays a critical role in supporting occupational therapists to help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. This position involves working directly with patients under the supervision of an occupational therapist to implement treatment plans tailored to individual needs. The OTA assists in evaluating patient progress and modifying therapeutic activities to maximize functional outcomes. By fostering a supportive and motivating environment, the OTA helps patients regain independence and improve their quality of life. This role requires compassionate interaction, attention to detail, and a commitment to promoting holistic patient care within diverse healthcare settings across the United States.Minimum Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.Current and valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the United States.Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques relevant to occupational therapy.Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and adapt activities as directed by the supervising occupational therapist.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or outpatient clinics.Certification in CPR and First Aid.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and reporting.Additional training or coursework in specialized areas such as pediatrics, geriatrics, or mental health.Demonstrated ability to work with patients from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.Responsibilities:Assist occupational therapists in delivering therapeutic interventions and activities designed to improve patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities.Monitor and document patient progress, reporting observations and any changes in condition to the supervising occupational therapist.Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe and effective therapeutic environment.Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and strategies to support continued progress outside of clinical sessions.Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and contribute to comprehensive treatment planning.Skills:The required skills enable the Occupational Therapy Assistant to effectively implement therapeutic activities and communicate clearly with patients and team members, ensuring treatment plans are followed accurately.
