Charge Description Master - 254237

Contract-to-Hire: 1040 Hours (Goal to be hired on permanently after - benefits & weekly pay while on contract) Setting: Hybrid (on-site once a week) Location: Houston, Texas 77081 Responsibilities CDM Consolidation: Reviewing the current Charge Description Master (CDM) and consolidating it to bring the system's charge structures back to foundation guidelines. Epic EHR Management: Navigating and working within Epic to maintain the CDM, specifically utilizing technical knowledge to set up and configure EAP records (Procedure Masters). Charge Auditing & Revenue Integrity: Conducting charge audits and monitoring revenue integrity processes to ensure accurate charge capture and compliance. Hospital Billing Compliance: Reviewing and managing the technical aspects of hospital-side billing (not professional/physician billing), including UB04 claims and HIPAA 1500 forms. Regulatory Monitoring: Reviewing and clearing National Correct Coding Initiative ( NCCI ) alerts, and ensuring adherence to Prospective Payment Systems ( PPS ), DRE , and local/national coverage determinations ( LCDs/NCDs ). Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participating in frequent meetings and working closely one-on-one with Magda to align the consolidation project with departmental goals. Required Skills Experience & Background Requirements Longevity: 7+ years of experience within the revenue cycle space. Project Experience: Specific experience or familiarity with CDM consolidation and “back to foundation” initiatives. Organization Size: Experience working in an urban, large-scale healthcare system similar in size and patient demographics to Harris Health (as opposed to a rural setting or small physician group). Certifications & Education Required Certifications: Must hold a current coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC . Certification Preference: A hospital outpatient credential—specifically a Certified Outpatient Coder ( COC )—is highly preferred, though a Certified Professional Coder ( CPC ) is acceptable if paired with the required 7+ years of heavy CDM experience. Education: A Bachelor's degree is preferred (and listed on the official job description), but Magda will accept an Associate degree as long as the candidate meets the 7+ year experience threshold.
