Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.The Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department is responsible for the mechanical design, development, and integration of critical defense platform systems.This includes radar and communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, hardware integration, and system interconnects.We are currently seeking a motivated and driven Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Ground Equipment Design Team. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, mechanical hardware design experience, system integration skills, and a strong background in program execution and production support. As a key contributor on a mechanical or cross-functional engineering team, you will be responsible for component and assembly modeling, documentation, design changes, and release processes.Role is an On-Site role in Tewksbury, MA/Andover, MAWhat You Will Do Perform ME design, development, and documentation of components, subassemblies, and major end itemsOversee small to mid-sized cross-functional engineering teams as the technical execution lead across all phases—from proposal generation and program initiationServe as the technical focal point for mechanical or cross-functional teamsProvide support for product integration with domestic and international factories and suppliers.Collaborate with engineering and non-engineering disciplines, and suppliers, to resolve technical challengesWork independently with minimal supervision while ensuring schedule, cost, and technical commitments are met.Support and participate in design peer reviews, and conduct trade studiesApply ME knowledge to solve problems in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.Experience spanning concept development, detailed design, transition to production, and sustainment.Experience in mechanical design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.Experience in CAD design tools, ProE and CREO, including Large Assembly Management.Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systemsQualifications We Prefer Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related hardware systems fieldDesign and integration of electronic/shelter assemblies and power distribution equipmentTroubleshooting electromechanical systemsExperience with interconnects, cables, harnesses, and CNCProficiency in ASME Y14.5 GD&TStructural design and analysis experienceUnderstanding of manufacturing systems and electromechanical production environmentsExperience in cross-functional IPT collaboration and engineering risk/proposal managementFamiliarity with EVM/EAC and willingness to travel (~10%)What We OfferOur values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
