This includes health surveillance as well as assessment and intervention to diagnose and treat illness or disease whether acute or chronic, physical, psychosocial or behavioral. Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulae treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients for other services and care as indicated. May also provide primary care services as indicated or needed. Reports to Chief Nursing Officer. Refer to Delineation of Privileges for specific scope of practice.QualificationsWork ExperienceTwo (2) years of pediatric acute care setting; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.License/Registration/CertificationMust possess Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensed in the state of Texas.Must possess an Active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License number or ability to apply for such license prior or upon hire.Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.Education and TrainingGraduation from an advanced nursing practice program accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing or other National accrediting body recognized by Texas Board of Nursing.SkillsKnowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Competent in the application of population-specific needs. Uses facility approved practice guidelines to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of psychiatric problems.Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
