About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required in a large, urban hospital License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic charting experience required - Previous charge experience preferred - Trauma Level I experience required Description: RNs must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs. The specialty unit cares for patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Patients include those with strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, and brain and spinal cord tumors. The patient ratio on the medical surgical tele unit is 1:5 days and 1:6 nights. Stepdown ratios are 1:3-4 during both days and nights. Travelers are required to float within their scope to meet facility needs. Weekends require 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. 100% nicotine-free facility. RNs must wear designated scrubs with a specific logo. A parking permit is available for a monthly fee or daily rate parking options. COVID-19 vaccination is required, with exceptions for medical or religious reasons. This position requires managing patients with mixed acuity levels. Required skills include managing cardiac drips and administering various medications. Special procedures and support services include respiratory services and physical therapy. The unit is equipped for long-term monitoring of patients as needed.
